Billy Joel, arranged Bob Chilcott

And So it Goes is a song written by Billy Joel. He wrote it in 1983 but it was not released until it featured on the album Storm Front in 1989.  When released as a single it was unsuccessful.

The expression “so it goes” probably comes from a common German phrase “So geht’s” which basically means “that’s life”. He originally wrote it about an unsuccessful and short relationship he had with the model Elle McPherson. Shortly after that he had a relationship with another model, Christie Brinkley who later became his wife. Joel and many of his followers believe that it is one of his finest songs.

Our arrangement is based on a harmony a capella version written by Bob Chilcott and covered most notably by The King’s Singers.
