On the afternoon of 15th May, we made a visit to the Born in a Barn Studio where we were welcomed by Roger who runs the studio. It had been over 2 years since our previous visit. It took a while for us to get in to the groove as it were. We arranged and re-arranged ourselves several times until we had the right blend for the recordings. Although four of the six of us had been to the studio before the first few recordings of the first item took sometime, possibly because we weren’t relaxed enough. As we got used to the system and the studio environment, the standard of takes improved a lot. We were starting to enjoy ourselves as well as the experience. After our tea break we were going well with only two takes being made of one song and that just in case of minor issues on the first take. We donned colourful hats and sunglasses as we neared the end of our recording session. The only parts we really had to re-record were “aah”s and “ooh”s which should in theory have been straightforward.
We were really tired by the end of the studio visit and in need of sustenance. In spite of road closures and Andy cycling to the restaurant, five of us visited our favoured Indian restaurant in Coventry to recover. Many Thanks to Jennie for organising our studio visit and to Andy who, being a perfectionist makes sure our songs are sung to a great standard. Thanks also to Roger from the studio for putting up with us and to Geoff who drove four of us there.
We are looking forward to developing our repertoire further and have a few songs in the pipeline.
