This piece was written by John Rutter, with the words taken from a blessing given by God to Moses, for him to instruct his brother Aaron and Aaron’s sons to bless the Children of Israel. The passage comes from the book of Numbers, 6:24-26. It is therefore known as the Priestly Blessing.

Rutter was born in London in 1945 and has produced a great many works, particularly for choirs. He still conducts and directs choirs and holds Come And Sing events including at Coventry Cathedral in 2021.

Here is a link to a beautiful recording sung by the Cambridge Singers with the City of London Sinfonia and conducted by Rutter himself.
